Spool Motorsports.com Interview

By Interviewer at 06/12/07 00:20
Name of your website?

Spool Motorsports.com

Your name?

Erik "Rex" Rexach

Your Location (city, etc)

Kersey

When did you start your website and why?

I actually started as a internet consultant about two years ago, but man did I get burnt out. So I took some time to get myself together and decided to do what I do best, and after 10 years as a flying grease monkey for the United States Air Force I combined my love for cars with business.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

My website and business is simple. Best quality, best prices. We are not a big corporation, we don't have beaurocratic tape. For automobile enthusiasts having a great car is a lifetime dream, we help them achieve it.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

All the small details for sure. Everything counts, specially when you talk about rankings and SEO stuff. It is time consuming and if you are like us, and don't have the mula to stay alive, dinners are lean.

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

I don't think there has been anything easy about it, but the time you put in, learning the ropes really pays off.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not having money to hire a professional LOL!

Who maintains your website and why?

I created and I am maintaining my website for now, until business starts up steady (help people! buy something from my site please!).

Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?

Well slowly but surely our traffic is improving, we just have to get people to buy the products, with over 80,000 products we have to analyze every customer that stops at our site and what we can do to improve.

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

I think that ecommerce is gonna reach a plateau soon and businesses (at least in my industry of automobile performance) will have to consider their stand on customer service.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

It's a difficult thing, this has taken me more time than the actual set up of the site. Now a days you have to be extremely savy and dedicate a large amount of time, just like you do on your local area advertising.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

Supposedly 80% of people start their search on the internet, so I think that it is a necessity, no matter what I think...

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

We are too young of a website to have that information yet.

What is your website address?

Spool Motorsports.com
